According to the travel books, watching the sunrise over Uluru and Kata Tjuta is supposed to be a spiritual experience. Both are world heritage sites and are very holy to the native Aboriginals, the Anangu. The rocks are supposed to glow at sunrise and sunset due to high iron content. We didn't get it.
